We had a glorious dinner of steak, steamed green beans, and Betty Crocker Scalloped Potatoes. The box of potatoes again did not have microwave directions, and since I recalled how I prepared them the night before, I went off memory.
At dinner, I mentioned that I had a blog where I posted what we talked about and what we ate the night before. I said that the blog is called 'Dinnertime Talk' and my oldest son, who is 14, said, "You should call it 'Supper Socializing.'" I just laughed and moved on. I like the title I picked.
Sadly, I can't remember what we talked about.

Dinner for April 4, 2011
Yes, it has been a while since I've posted. If you follow my other blogs, you'll know why. If you don't, I'll let you know that I broke my ankle back in January and am still recovering.
So, let's see... last night the boys and I had leftovers while hubby had Betty Crocker Cheesy Potatoes. The leftovers were my made-up recipe of Italian Mac & Beef, but we used Penne instead of mac. The original batch was made with a two-pound lump of ground beef, and this made A LOT of food. I think we'll still be eating the leftovers into next week!
I have a comment in regards to the Betty Crocker potatoes. Did you know that they've taken the microwave directions off the box? Now it's just stovetop and/or oven. Do they not think people nuke food anymore? Luckily, I photocopied the microwave directions off another box of a different variety of potatoes. That thing is stuck via magnet on the side of my fridge - right next to important phone numbers!
Anway, the boys and I ate at the table while my very tired hubby sat on the couch to eat his potatoes. My eldest child was at his friend's house all day, so I asked what they did. All I really wanted was a brief summary. Instead, I was told what happened from the moment he stood on the friend's doorstep. Sigh. I learned what videos the kids watched on YouTube. Stuff that is funny to 14-year-old boys and not necessarily to moms. Sigh.
Hopefully tonight's meal will result in the entire family at the table! Both my kids have been home all day and I know what they've done all day, so I won't need a play-by-play of their activities.
